Monuments
The Capitol Complex grounds are graced with a number of monuments, statues and memorials. Some are works of art that add beauty. Some recognize Iowans’ contributions and historical events. Others mark important occasions, people or places. Together they help tell the story of Iowa’s rich history and culture. If you are interested in having a monument placed on the Capitol grounds, please review the information on our Site Features Policy page. The map below plots the various monuments and sculptures on the Complex grounds. Mouse over a red circle on the map to see that monument’s name and corresponding number. A listing of the monuments is below the map. Click on the name of a monument for a picture and description.
