The Department of Administrative Services is responsible for the acquisition management, policies, operation, maintenance and repair, and disposal of motor vehicles used for the transportation of State of Iowa employees in their official duties. The Department of Administrative Services meets the state’s short and long term needs for vehicles by operating a centralized motor pool for daily trip rentals, in addition to, assigning vehicles to state agencies and institutions for departmental use. These policies and procedures are published in Department of Administrative Service Fleet Operations Manual and The Department of Administrative Services Fleet Maintenance Manual Every state employee who drives a state-owned vehicle should familiarize themselves with these manuals.

The State Risk Management Program provides insurance coverage, claims processing, and an ongoing safety and loss control program for drivers of state vehicles.
