Energy Management
Providing the energy to light, heat, cool, ventilate,
and run an increasingly technological state government located in 1.9
million square feet of space on the Capitol Complex is a major task
and expense. To keep costs as low as possible, the Department
of Administrative Services uses several energy conservation techniques.
- Best practices in operating equipment to make sure there is a
good match between the heating and cooling needs and when and how
equipment is used to meet those needs.
- Technology, such as motion detectors to automatically turn off
lights when areas are not in use. Computers are also used to help
regulate building temperatures based on humidity, outside temperature,
and other factors.
